The Bosque County Jail was built in 1979 and can house up to 32 inmates. The Bosque County Jail processed 851 inmates during the year 2005. As of Jan, 27 2006 the Bosque County Sheriff's Office was housing inmates in adjacent counties to eliminate over population. This over population cost the Bosque County Sheriff's Office $35 per inmate / per day. Due to the recent overcrowding and age of the current detention facility, there are ongoing discussions for future plans of a new Bosque County Law Enforcement Center. On March 24, 2006 the Texas Jail Commission inspected and fully certified the Bosque County Sheriff's Office detention facility. This Certification was obtained with the hard work of all the Bosque County detention officers and especially Sgt. Beth Brasfield. Due to the age and design of the facility and the inability to properly house certain classified inmates our maximum population allowed has been reduced to 32 inmates. This means that the Bosque County Sheriff's Office will have to utilize out of county housing for inmates over our new revised population count of 32. The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office does require an "F.T.O." program for all new Detention Officers. The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office is a progressive office, which offers an excellent retirement plan, health benefits and promotional opportunities. If you can work with minimal supervision and are looking for an exciting and rewarding career in Law Enforcement Corrections, then obtain a Bosque County Sheriff’s Office application packet from the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office, Meridian, Texas.
